From a major foreign company to a small but elite team – A career at INTLOOP Strategy where you can “challenge what you want to do”
Kengo ShibuyaManaging Director, Telecom Practice Lead, Consulting Business
― What is the appeal of INTLOOP Strategy from the perspective of an employee?
At my previous job at a major foreign consulting firm, I felt fulfilled by the social significance and fulfillment of my work. However, I also faced the dilemma of not being able to do what I wanted to do as I pleased. Since joining INTLOOP Strategy, I’ve been able to achieve both my goals and find fulfillment. Being a small, growing company allows me to design and promote things like setting up an organization and building systems from scratch. We also have a culture where people can actively voice their opinions, such as “I think it would be better to do it this way,” which supports such reforms and the growth of individuals and organizations.
On the other hand, the parent company, INTLOOP Inc., has a history of over 20 years and employs approximately 50,000 freelance consultants, and handles many large-scale projects. This is a great environment for those who want to work with a great deal of discretion and the speed that only a small, elite team can provide.
― What are your advantages over your competitors?
INTLOOP Strategy’s greatest advantage is that we assign the right person from our network of over 49,000 freelance consultants to meet our clients’ challenges, providing support in the right place.
This advantage also allows us to provide consulting services at relatively reasonable prices. In recent years, labor shortages have become a major issue everywhere. This is particularly evident in construction and logistics sites, but securing highly skilled personnel has also become more difficult, and this trend is even more pronounced in rural areas. Many small and medium-sized enterprises in rural areas have given up on consulting due to budget constraints. In this regard, by assigning freelance consultants, we are able to provide relatively reasonable consulting services. We believe that our ability to provide the same high-quality consulting as major companies at an affordable price, so that a wide range of customers can take advantage of it, is a major strength.

― What do you find rewarding and most rewarding about your work?
Consulting is a job that makes people feel valued. Having people feel valued means that the consultant’s humanity is affirmed, which is a great source of pride. Furthermore, generating awareness for clients through communication and making them feel fulfilled in their work leads to my own sense of fulfillment.
We provide support by thoroughly identifying not only apparent issues but also potential issues. This is the basic stance of INTLOOP Strategy. Consulting firms are often described as “good at writing, but lacking in substance.” However, I believe that if we approach our clients with a stance of working together to create down-to-earth Serviceses, they will definitely feel the value of consulting. I believe INTLOOP Strategy is the consulting firm that best embodies this.
